Paul McCartney is 83 years old / photo REUTERSPaul McCartney has joined a large-scale music initiative aimed at drawing attention to the problem of artificial intelligence using creative works without the permission of the authors.
As The Guardian writes, as part of the campaign, the musician presented his first new audio track in five years, which consists of background studio noise and short random sounds. This is intended as a symbol that the unchecked use of creative materials for AI training could lead to the decline of the industry and the de facto “silencing” of original music.
The composition will be included in the vinyl album “Is This What We Want?”, which combines the works of other artists, created according to a similar principle. In his tracklist, you can see the phrase “British government must not legalize music theft to benefit AI companies.”
Sam Fender, Kate Bush, Hans Zimmer and the Pet Shop Boys have already joined the campaign. Participants call on the government to abandon legislative changes that could harm copyright holders. It is expected that the issue of the new legal regime of copyright and artificial intelligence will not be considered by the parliament before 2026.
