However, innovations at US airports may be a little smoothing out the situation.

According to The Guardian, for the first time in almost 20 years, passengers will no longer need to shoot shoes during inspection at US airports, said US Internal Security Minister Christie Noem on July 8, 2025.

In particular, the TSA management decision (TSA) cancels the mandatory inspection phase, introduced almost two decades ago, a few years after Richard Reed’s unsuccessful attempt, known as the Bombist in Shoes, to make a terrorist attack on board flight from Paris to Miami at the end of 2001.

“We expect this change will significantly reduce the time of waiting for passengers at our TSA checkpoints, which will make the process of viewing more enjoyable and effective,” NEM said.

The minister also stressed that the reason for the cancellation of the rule was achieved in the field of technology and security procedures, but noted that some passengers may be asked to take off their shoes, “if we find that additional levels of viewing are required.”

At the same time, the statement of the US Department of Internal Security states that other aspects of the TSA security process will remain unchanged.

“For example, passengers should still be inspected, checking for compliance with flight safety requirements and other procedures,” the Ministry’s statement reads.

It should be noted that earlier travelers could “bypass” additional safety requirements by participating in the TSA Precheck program, which is about $ 80. The program implemented in 2013 enables passengers to be inspected without removing shoes, straps or light jackets.

At the same time, Noem stated that, in her opinion, the new policy will not worsen the Precheck program.

“I am sure that many travelers will still want to use the Precheck service, because with the help of TSA Precheck they will not have to remove the belt, coat or get things such as laptops or liquids from the bag,” the minister said.

How faster to pass the airport security check

As reported by UNIAN, an earlier experienced traveler, Gilbert OTT, told how to avoid delays during a check on security at the airport-and it is not about buying a special Fast-Track service. It is more about wardrobe and timely preparation.

It should be borne in mind that through some types of clothing or its elements to tourists can arrange a more strict inspection. In particular, it is about outfits with levis, bras with metal bones and glamorous tracksuits with rhinestones.
