This species still remains insufficiently studied through a hidden lifestyle.

This is stated in the publication of the Chornobyl radiation-ecological biosphere.
“In August and September, during the studies of the sanitary condition of individual pine plantations of the Rozkhovsky PNV, a new rare species – Boros Schneider (Panzer) was found for the reserve. It occurs in Polissya and in the Carpathians mainly in the Old Fields, ” – said environmentalists.
They point out that the biology and ecology of this species remain poorly studied. Usually they are kept under the bark, in the cracks of trees, which complicates the observation of them. Yes, imago leads such a hidden lifestyle that it is still not even established whether it is daily or night. Although, given that the beetles sometimes fall into light traps, some researchers are inclined to think about their night activity.
Also, almost nothing is known about the food preferences of imago. It is suggested that they can be predators, consume green parts of plants or use organic residues and mushrooms in food.
At the same time, the larvae of this species are much easier to detect, environmentalists point out. They develop under the bark of standing dead trees, in particular, pine trees. An important condition is sufficient humidity.
“To distinguish the larva of this species from others is quite easy. It has a translucent light brown, flat and segmented body that narrows to the head (thorax with three pairs tendrils. “, – the message reads.
Earlier, environmentalists reported that in the Chernobyl radiation-ecological biosphere reserve were recorded by lynx, the predator got into the photo trap of the reserve.
