A woman has been left in shock after discovering her former husband slept with his cousinCredit: GettyTaking to Reddit, the mum of one revealed that she and her husband ended up having an amicable divorce in 2018, but added that she now cannot stand to look at him, after the discovery.
“I don’t know who this person is or even was,” she said.
“It honestly scares me that someone I thought I knew so well is capable of something this heinous.”
The woman revealed that her ex-husband and his cousin never planned to tell her husband (who thought he was the child’s father) or herself the truth.
She added that her son had always longed for a sibling, when in fact he had had a half-sibling all along.
Not revealing how the truth came out in the end, the woman raged: “I know it was a long time ago, but it’s brand f***ing new news to me.
“I’m so f***ing mad and hurt. HIS GOD DAMN COUSIN.
“Now my son has a what, a f***ng brother-cousin?”
She continued: “Thanks a lot for dragging my child into your freak show of a family.
“I’m so embarrassed. I’m so angry. We were married and I trusted him.
“Our child was never the miracle for my husband that he was for me and it just breaks me.
“I’m ashamed to be permanently associated with this family.”
She added that she lives in a small town, and is terrified of the neighbours gossiping about the scandal.
The Reddit post was flooded with comments from social media users, many of whom rushed to share their sympathy and support.
That means that if end up falling for the children of your aunts and uncles, there’s nothing stopping you from eventually tying the knot.
If you’re over the age of 18, you can do this without the consent of your legal guardian or parent.
First-cousin marriages were once quite common in Europe, especially among the elite.
One person said: “Being hurt by someone you loved and trusted is awful, even though you’re no longer together, and your reaction is totally understandable.
“I hope you and both of the kids have a good support system.”
A second person said: “That’s so f***d up.
‘Good thing is you are divorced now. How did you get to know this? Does his cousin still with her husband?’
A third person said: “OMG- biggest hugs to you! People can be so disgusting. I’m sorry for your son.
‘It may have happened a long while ago for them but it’s definitely new to you.
‘I‘d be moving if I could but I doubt that’s possible. Be prepared for other hidden things to surface now you know.’
