By design, such androids will take the place of humans in the future in routine, dangerous or monotonous tasks.
Elon Musk’s humanoid robot Optimus now runs like a human / ScreenshotThe manufacturer of electric cars Tesla published a video demonstrating the evolution of their “human-like” robot Optimus over the past 2.5 years, and it literally blew up social networks – in a couple of days, the video gained 37 million views.
In May 2023, the android was barely able to stay on its feet, balancing precariously with each step. In December 2025, an improved version of Optimus confidently runs, organically imitating human movements.
Such progress was made possible thanks to the modernization of drives, improvement of balancing algorithms and comprehensive optimization of the robot design. According to the company, the new version of the robot has 40 degrees of freedom and “human-like” 11-legged hands that allow it to interact with objects like a human.
It is noted that the robot is powered by a 2.3 kWh battery, which allows it to work almost all day.
Earlier in October, Elon Musk published a video in which the Optimus robot mastered kung fu techniques, almost exactly repeating the movements of the master. In earlier scenarios, Musk admitted that the android operates under the supervision of an operator, repeating a pre-programmed sequence of actions.
Optimus is still under active development and mass production is expected to begin soon. The company plans to launch sales in 2026-2027 for ~$20,000 (approximately UAH 820,000). In the future, there will be as many robots as there are people in the world, Musk believes.
Earlier, Musk announced the first flight to Mars in 2026 – the Optimus robot will fly on it, which will become the first colonist.
