The mother of cartoon favourite, Peppa Pig, features in the moving short, The Story of You, alongside fellow famous mums Oti Mabuse and Billie Shepherd, to remind families that help is always at hand.
The film – created by Pip and Posy author, Camilla Reid, and illustrated by Rob Biddulph – points to the importance of reading, chatting, and playing with little ones to help prepare them for school.
While more helpful content from the Peppa Pig family will feature on the Muddy Puddle Parenting channel.
As part of its Plan for Change, the government is driving national renewal by tackling inequality and unlocking opportunity across the country.
The campaign introduces Best Start in Life, a one-stop hub for expert advice on everything from pregnancy to school readiness, plus local Family Hubs for real-world support.
It aims to help parents with everything from feeding time and sleeping to speech and language, child development, and finding local childcare and family support.
And it has been endorsed by the likes of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice star Oti, former TOWIE alum Billie and Secret Life of 4 Year Olds expert Professor Sam Wass.
The £12 million Best Start Family Hubs development grant distributed this week builds on existing efforts to break down barriers, supporting areas to identify an appropriate site to reach disadvantaged families and prepare to deliver evidence-based programmes and support.
In a statement, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said: ‘The path to opportunity for every child begins in the early years, and ensuring children are ready to learn and thrive when they start school is vital – yet new parents face an overwhelming amount of conflicting online information.
‘That’s why we’re cutting through the noise with our new nationwide campaign, giving parents an evidence-backed alternative to the barrage of unchecked and sometimes unreliable advice.
‘Through our Best Start website, Family Hubs or funded childcare, our Plan for Change is making support from trusted professionals available wherever parents turn – giving every child the best possible start in life.’
While Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting added: ‘In between sleepless nights, potty training and weaning their children, it’s no wonder so many knackered parents feel they need to turn to unverified social media posts for advice about their child’s health and development.
‘But it’s vital they get reliable information – and that’s why this Best Start in Life campaign is so important, and the health benefits are so clear. When parents get the right advice on things like nutrition, sleep and development, children arrive at school ready to learn, with stronger immune systems and better mental health that can last a lifetime.
‘As a child who grew up in poverty, I know how critical it is for parents to have access to evidence-based, expert advice exactly when and where they need it, and this campaign is providing exactly that.’
Mummy Pig’s exciting new role comes just five months after she welcomed her third child with Daddy Pig.
She gave birth to a baby girl named Evie and sister for Peppa, four, and George, two, back in May at London’s Lindo Wing.
And to celebrate the birth, the family-of-five starred in an ‘at home’ interview with Hello! Magazine, further tapping into the celebrity hysteria surrounding them.
In the tell-all, Daddy and Mummy Pig, speaking just hours after giving birth, gushed that the birth of their third piglet was ‘a miracle.’
‘We were very lucky – everything went smoothly and in eight, um, “short” hours of labour Evie was here,’ the cartoon matriarch told the magazine.
Daddy Pig sweetly added: ‘Mummy pig was AMAZING, and she brought our new baby girl into the world. What a miracle that is!’
The family have been on screens since 2004 and in that time have remained a family of four, with Peppa and George not ageing throughout 21 years on screen.
So when did the couple decide to add to their brood?
‘I don’t think either of us ever had a specific plan – but we just got to that place where timing felt right,’ Mummy Pig explained.
Daddy Pig agreed, adding: ‘And everything fell into place. We’re very lucky to be able to grow our family.’
But the couple were more hesitant about adding a fourth child to their family, with Daddy Pig panicking before Mummy Pig jumped in to clarify: ‘I think we’re more than happy with our family of five! We’re excited to settle into our new adventure and see where that takes us.’
Mummy and Daddy Pig confirmed the happy news on Good Morning Britain, revealing their third piglet’s name is Evie.
Mummy Pig, who has a job involving doing ‘very important work’ on her computer and Daddy Pig, who ‘takes big numbers, transmutes them and calculates their load-bearing tangents,’ welcomed their little girl at the Lindo Wing in London – the same location where Kate Middleton gave birth to all three of her children.
The birth was announced with a royal-inspired twist on the classic royal birth announcement, complete with a town crier, a scroll-style proclamation, and the unveiling of an official Peppa Pig birth certificate.
At the time, big siblings Peppa and George were said to be over the moon and excited to meet their new baby sister, while Mummy and Daddy Pig were ‘looking forward to lots of happy snorts and sleepless nights.’
