The actor was accompanied by Debbie Gwyther’s twin sister Katie while rounding off his week at popular Camden pub The Lord Stanley, where they were joined by a wider group of friends.
Occupying a table littered with beer and wine glasses, Matt, 42, and Katie appeared to share more than just drinks as they whiled away the hours outside the Kentish Town watering hole.
Indeed, the inseparable pair were seen sharing an embrace while chatting with friends on Camden Park Road, with Katie, 41, draping herself across the actor as they sat side by side at their crowded table.
Oasis fan Matt even found time to roll with it, in a manner of speaking, by agreeably puffing on the somewhat suspicious looking homemade cigarette being passed around his small group of friends.
The British actor has been something of a presence during Liam and Noel Gallagher’s money-spinning Oasis reunion tour, having attended the band’s opening show at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in July.
House of the Dragon star Matt was lucky enough to attend both night one and two in the Welsh capital after being pictured mingling with Noel’s daughter, Anais, on Friday and praising the show to the Daily Mail the following day, describing it as ‘amazing’.
In September he was given a rare opportunity to appear onstage with the Brit Pop pioneers at Wembley Stadium, where he joined them for a performance of their anthemic Champagne Supernova.
Later that night, he was among the celebrity guests at Marylebone venue Chiltern Firehouse as Noel hosted an exclusive party to celebrate the conclusion of their UK shows – an event that was also attended by Smith’s ex-girlfriend, Lily James.
Last October, Matt was seated alongside Noel at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Spurs were playing the Oasis star’s beloved Manchester City in an FA Cup fourth round tie.
It’s understood that the pair have been friends for years, with Matt previously attending Noel’s milestone 50th birthday celebration in 2017 and also featuring in the promotional video for High Flying Birds single We’re On Our Way Now, released in 2021.
Discussing Matt’s appearance in the video at the time, Noel told the Rockonteurs podcast: ‘One night he was round our house and as he was leaving at four in the morning I said “Ey mate you don’t fancy being in a video do you?”
‘He said “yeah no problem”. And I sort of held him to it.’
He added: ‘The second video follows on from this one, so he’s [Matt] in the next one too’.
Appearing on Desert Island Discs with Jonathan Ross in 2018, he said: ‘Oasis are the greatest rock and roll band in the world, and I say that for many reasons, but firstly because I was there.
‘For me, this band captured the 90s and going to watch them twice on the trot at Milton Keynes Bowl, I just went “woof, whatever that is, I’m having it.”‘
He added: ‘There was a courage and a defiance and a rock and roll-ness and a football-ness. Also, I came to the second album first, and there was a battle between Blur and Oasis.
‘I also love Blur, but Oasis is my heart.’
