The Academy Award winner, 55, popped into Coolangatta seafood restaurant Pipi’s with lauded Australian hitmaker DJ Fisher.
A photo of the lunch date was shared to the Pipi’s Instagram page this week, which showed the two celebs posing with John Gambaro, managing director of the Gambaro Group which owns the restaurant.
Matt cut a casual figure for the outing, wearing a crisp white T-shirt under a light pink collared shirt that he left unbuttoned.
He also wore a pair of shorts in a matching hue that finished just above the knee.
Fisher, 39, also looked summery in a pink and white striped shirt that he left unbuttoned to expose a hint of chest.
Matt also wore a pair of brown chinos and accessorised with a pair of large tinted sunglasses.
The pair looked to be having a great time in each other’s company, beaming broadly as Fisher flashed a peace sign.
‘An afternoon with true gentlemen. Thank you @followthefishtv & Matt Damon for visiting us at Pipi’s—it truly meant so much to share our Mediterranean flavours, ocean breeze and heartfelt hospitality with you,’ the caption read.
‘We’re grateful for moments like this and hope to welcome you back again soon.’
Matt, who spends a great deal of time Down Under with his family, recently revealed a special connection to one Australian city.
The Bourne Identity star appeared on Sunrise last year with Casey Affleck to promote their film The Instigators.
Matt revealed in the interview he is particularly fond of Brisbane, in particular, the city’s iconic Ekka Festival.
‘You’re almost half Australian these days. You seem to be at the Ekka every other year,’ reporter Steve Hargrave said.
‘I’ve been a few years in a row to the Ekka,’ Matt admitted. ‘I don’t know if I’m gonna make it this year, though, because I have to come back to America.’
Matt then explained the festival to Casey, who was unaware of the annual event.
‘It’s awesome. I gotta bring him [Casey] to the Ekka,’ Matt said.
The action star added he’s usually the one to jump on the ‘terrifying’ rides while his family prefers to watch from the sidelines.
‘My kids love it because they force me to go on all those terrifying rides and, you know, their mum refuses to go,’ Matt said.
‘So I draw the short straw. They like watching me get whipped around on those things.’
The Ekka, formally known as the Royal Queensland Show, is Queensland’s annual agricultural show and is held at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
