He had been seen giving a toast to wife Abi Lindsay, after the pair declared their love for each otherCredit: Channel 4 But eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed during Wednesday night;s episode that the popular groom seemingly disappeared after making a sweet toast to wife – and the groom has now revealed it was due to a ‘health scare’.
Taking to Instagram, John posted a video explaining his noticeable absence from screens.
He said: “I was scrolling through Instagram last night and I see everyone else putting their beautiful photographs up of themselves and their partners that have been taken by the photographer for the dinner party.
“And I’m thinking, Abi and I are missing here.
“Where the hell are our pictures?”
The MAFS star then went on to explain that between the mixer a and the actual dinner he “didn’t feel well”.
“I had to see the medic”, he continued, “I was hot, my head was spinning, I honestly felt so bad”.
He said the show’s team informed him that he didn’t need to do the dinner party if he was feeling unwell, but he soldiered on.
John continued: “I knew I wanted to do the toast. I knew I wanted to tell everybody that Abi and I had told each other that we love each other.”
He went on to say that fellow grooms Davide and Keye, who he spent the Wife Swap Week with, had styled him for the night.
John was wearing a necklace from them, which Reiss suspected was the reason he fell ill.
“So that’s why we didn’t have any pictures”, John admitted, “I had my necklace on too tight!”
The hilarious health scare follows a good week for both John and wife Abi declared their love for each other.
It follows the latest commitment ceremony, which aired on Sunday night, where the couple said they would want to have kids together in a shock revelation and appeared all smiles.
But when Abi was further questioned by Expert Paul C Brunson, who said he was playing ‘devil’s advocate’, she appeared to look tense.
Even though Abi admitted she wanted kids with John she has not yet said “I love you”, Paul later questioned: “Do you think that you’ve put the cart before the horse? Discussing a child, but not confirming that you love your partner.”
The pair seem to have overcome that hurdle though, after declaring their love for one another.
Though, some fans on social media remain unconvinced about their romance.
One wrote on X: “I’m not buying what Abi and John are selling sorry”.
The couple will be taking part in home stays, as the popular E4 dating show returns on Sunday.
