Leonardo DiCaprio is sharing his thoughts on One Battle After Another co-star Chase Infiniti not receiving a 2026 Oscar nomination earlier this week.

DiCaprio has been nominated for eight Academy Awards and won an Oscar in 2016 for best actor for his role in The Revenant. He spoke to the Associated Press about receiving his latest nod on Thursday — and expressed his disappointment that Infiniti didn’t score one for Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film.

“She was the fabric of this movie. She was the heart and soul,” DiCaprio said. “There would be no One Battle After Another without the performance that she gave.”

He added that she had “an amazing attitude” about it, regardless.

“A young actress coming in to fill a role that was her first film and carrying the entire emotional weight of this movie was a near-impossible task,” DiCaprio said. “She should be so proud of herself and we’re all so proud of her.”

This year, DiCaprio is nominated for best lead actor alongside Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent). Anderson is also nominated for best director. Benicio Del Toro is nominated for best supporting actor and the film earned a nom for best picture. One Battle After Another landed 13 nominations total.

Infiniti was expected to receive a best actress nod. The nominees in that category are Jessie Buckley for HamnetRose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick YouKate Hudson for Song Sung BlueRenate Reinsve for Sentimental Value and Emma Stone for Bugonia.

The Hollywood Reporter noted earlier this week that in addition to Infiniti, other snubs this year include Paul Mescal for Hamnet; Jesse Plemons for Bugonia; Jennifer Lawrence for Die My Love; Jennifer Lopez and Tonatiuh for Kiss of the Spider-Woman; and Train Dreams actors, Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, William H. Macy and Kerry Condon.
