The glass will crack, but will not shatter into small pieces with this hack.

Fragments of broken glass can seriously injure a person, even if the explosion is relatively far away. For protection, Ukrainians use a wide variety of household items – scotch tape, film or wooden plywood.
One resident of Kyiv showed on social networks an interesting way to seal the windows from the blast wave. This life hack was tested in practice – after the shelling, the fragments really did not scatter around the apartment.
How to protect glass from a blast waveThreads user @aqua_zoo_likhachova shared an unusual life hack. According to the Kyiv woman, it was invented by the woman’s mother. She glued the tulle to the glass using a starch solution. Initially, the method was not intended to protect the window from the blast wave, but was used to shade flower pots.
However, a few months later, this technique saved the apartment during shelling. When a shell hit the nearest house, all the neighbors’ windows were blown out. The glass of the woman’s mother was also cracked, but all the fragments remained in place thanks to tulle. This saved the apartment from serious damage, and possibly even saved the lives of the residents.
Tulle works better than blast wave tape / screenshot threads.com/@aqua_zoo_likhachovaKiyanka also explained in detail how to close the windows against the blast wave. To do this, you need to dissolve a tablespoon starch in a liter of water. Put on the stove, boil, wait for thickening and turn off. Then cool slightly to a warm temperature. Cut the fabric according to the area of the glass and soak it in the starch mixture. Apply the rest of the solution to the glass and glue the tulle.
Other users of the social network noted the convenience and cheapness of this method. It is also superior to scotch tape because the starch is easier to wash off the glass. Of course, such a life hack will not save when a missile is directly hit. However, it will be useful to protect the windows from the blast wave and prevent fragments from flying around the house.
An alternative way to save windows from a blast wave / Threads screenshotIn the comments, people shared other alternatives to armored film. For example, the glass can be sealed tinted film. Such a barrier not only helps to preserve privacy, but also works as an inexpensive protection of windows against blast waves.
There is one more important nuance – it is better during shelling keep the windows open. If the apartment is closed, the wave from the explosion collides with the glass and pushes it inside the apartment. But with open frames, part of the energy will go directly into the house, reducing the overall pressure on the glass. Also, after the announcement of the air alarm, you should in any case move away from the window. Go down to the basement, or at least follow the two-wall rule.
