According to Variety, it is a debut -length project of Irish director Gara O’Rurke. The tape shows life in the 1970s, Kuyalnik sanatoriums near Odessa, where a small group of people seeks love, healing and happiness:
“In the conditions of war, mud procedures and Soviet treatments continue to be used here, and the main highlight remains a mysterious black mule, which allegedly treats infertility, physical ailments and other diseases.”
The film’s world premiere took place in March at the CPP Film Festival: DOX in Copenhagen. The short list of nominees in this category will be announced on December 16, and the final five of the nominees will be announced on January 22.
Gara O’Rurke noted that the international reaction after the movie premiere was extraordinary and honor to represent Ireland on the world’s largest cinema:
“The film shows the power of healing, the resistance of the community and the power of the Ukrainian spirit in extremely difficult times. This would not be possible without the dedication of the Ukrainian team, our co -authors from 2332 Films and the support of Screen Ireland and our numerous partners.”
Ukraine at OscarRecall that last year the Ukrainian documentary “20 days in Mariupol” directed by Mstislav Chernov won the Oscar Prize in the category “Best full -length documentary”. This is the first award of the American Academy in the history of Ukraine.
The tape tells of the first weeks of fighting in Mariupol during a full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine in 2022.
