It is worth remembering that not all glass shower doors are the same.
Experts recommend washing the glass of the shower cabin and windows in the bathroom once a week / photo ua.depositphotos.comRegular cleaning of glass shower doors is necessary to preserve their transparency and protect them from permanent damage or scratches. That’s why two experts shared their best cleaning tips with Southern Living so you can enjoy every shower visit.
“Leaving soap scum and mineral deposits on glass is like leaving red wine on a white shirt: the longer you ignore it, the worse it gets. Regular maintenance prevents residue damage to the glass and turns a simple wipe into a full-blown restoration project,” noted Ryan Knoll, founder of Tidy Casa, a home cleaning service.
At the same time, Glass Doctor president Jeremy Sibley advises washing shower glass and bathroom windows once a week, as mold can form there.
“With little effort, using a scraper after a shower or wiping with a sponge or scouring pad once a week can prevent the build-up and build-up of hard water that can lead to costly repairs down the road,” he said.
However, it is worth remembering that not all glass shower doors are the same. Some have a coating that repels water or fingerprints.
“Using the wrong detergent can damage the coating or cloud the glass. Always test first,” Knoll emphasized.
What you will need:
- sprayer;
- distilled white vinegar;
- dishwashing detergent;
- non-abrasive sponge or foam cleaning sponge;
- baking soda;
- microfiber towel;
- scraper.
What should be done?Mix equal parts vinegar and dishwashing detergent in a spray bottle. Spray the glass shower door liberally with the solution, leave it for 10-15 minutes to dissolve dirt and mineral deposits.
“Clean the door with a non-abrasive sponge or foam cleaning sponge. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove residue. Dry the door with a microfiber cloth to avoid streaks,” the material advised.
You can also clean the glass shower door with baking soda and water.
To do this, you need to make a paste from these ingredients, apply it to the glass door with a sponge, leave it for 10 minutes to remove stubborn stains. After that, rinse with warm water and wipe with a microfiber cloth.
“I just add a little vinegar after the paste has set. It will fizz a little and help dissolve the dirt without any extra effort,” Knoll recommends.
To do this, first heat the vinegar in the microwave, because this way it will dissolve the plaque much better.
How often to clean the glass shower door?Ideally, experts advise doing this every week.
“If you use a scraper every day and apply a water repellent, you can stretch the deep cleaning to 3-4 weeks and still keep the door looking great,” Knoll adds.
