Because 53-year-old Justin shares a taste for showbiz with his “wild-child” mother Margaret.
She became notorious in the 1970s when — while married to his father, then-PM Pierre Trudeau — she abandoned her First Lady duties to run off with the Rolling Stones.
Party girl Margaret became a regular at New York’s raunchy Studio 54 club, bedded Hollywood lotharios Jack Nicholson and Ryan O’Neal, and had an intense attraction to US politician Ted Kennedy, brother of President JFK.
‘Wicked wife’ An insider said: “Justin has always been thought of as a bit of a mummy’s boy. They both like to shake things up and live life on the edge.
“As Prime Minister, he has had to toe the line for years with his clean-cut, family-man image.
“But it began to fall apart in 2023 when he split with his wife Sophie, mother of his three children.
“Then he resigned as Prime Minister earlier this year — and, within months, his love life is making headlines.
“But then, being photographed on a yacht with a famous pop star is exactly the sort of thing his mother would have done back in the day.”
A new biography about Justin, called The Prince, reveals how Margaret was linked to both Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood while she was still married to Pierre.
It details how, on her sixth wedding anniversary in 1977, Margaret showed up with the rockers at famous Toronto club El Mocambo, where the Rolling Stones were about to take to the stage.
Tabloids feasted on the scandal, linking Margaret romantically to both men.
For years, it was assumed frontman Mick was her love interest, but Ronnie revealed a different story in his autobiography.
He wrote in 2007: “From the moment I met her, we spent as much time together as possible.
“We both knew it was something that couldn’t have a future, but we shared something special for that short time.”
Margaret said in her 1979 memoir: “In the eyes of the world, my weekend with the Rolling Stones was the freedom trip to end all freedom trips.

“To the rest of Canada, to the journalists and newspapers of the world, my escapade was yet another example of what a wicked wife I had become, flaunting my infid-elities in Pierre’s face.”
When Margaret Sinclair, 22, married Pierre, a politician 29 years her senior, the world had said it wouldn’t last — and they were right.
The relationship began when she was an 18-year-old sociology student — and from the outset she refused to conform to traditional expectations of a PM’s spouse, famously stating: “I want to be more than a rose in my husband’s lapel.”
Free spirit Margaret soon felt trapped, lamenting: “From the day I became Mrs Pierre Elliott Trudeau, it was like a glass panel was gently lowered into place around me — like a patient in a mental hospital who is no longer considered able to make decisions and who cannot be exposed to a harsh light.”
The couple had three sons — Justin, Alexandre and Michel, the youngest dying in 1998 in a skiing accident.

She later admitted: “I took to marijuana like a duck to water. If you have no interest in life, you will reach for something at hand to change your mood.
“Usually it’s alcohol, but not my generation: it was wacky tabacky.
“It did help my brain to get out of depression.”
She once turned up to a state dinner in Venezuela on hallucinogenic drug peyote and began singing.
“On the night Pierre was booted out of office in 1979, his wife was pictured dancing with artist Andy Warhol in Studio 54.
The couple finally divorced in 1984, and Margaret later remarried, though she was at Pierre’s bedside when he died in 2000.
These days, she enjoys a quieter life, and campaigns for mental health charities.
But as Katy Perry seems to have found out, the Trudeau love of glitz and glamour lives on in her eldest son.
