Dune: Part Two was released earlier this year, with Timothee Chalamet and Josh Brolin in starring roles (Picture: Warner Bros) A major star of the Dune franchise has warned that he’ll ‘quit acting’ for good if Denis Villeneuve isn’t recognized at the Oscars.
Josh Brolin starred as Gurney Halleck in the first two parts of the sci-fi epic alongside Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya. Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista and Rebecca Ferguson.
Dune: Part Two was released at the beginning of the year, while a third movie currently in development, and a spin-off prequel series is airing on HBO Max.
The first film landed 10 Oscar nominations and Denis was nominated for the best picture and best adapted screenplay, but ultimately missed out on both.
At the time the nods were announced, Josh shared a video on Instagram slamming the decision to snub him from the best director category.
In his new memoir, From Under the Truck, the Hollywood legend threatened to take matters into his own hands if the same happens again ahead of next year’s ceremony.

‘When I watched it, it felt like my brain was broken open. It’s masterful, and Denis is one of our master filmmakers. If the Academy Awards have any meaning whatsoever, they’ll recognize him.’
The nominations are announced on Friday, January 17, ahead of the ceremony in LA on March 2.
Dune: Part Two raked in more than $714,000,000 at the global box office and broke records when it premiered this year, becoming the highest-rated Dune film ever on Rotten Tomatoes.

Josh has been a staple of Hollywood for decades, having appeared in American Gangster, Into the Blue, No Country For Old Men and True Grit.
He has taken on huge roles as George W Bush in W, Thanos in the Avengers franchise and popped up on the small screen in Mister Sterling, 21 Jump Street and the Young Riders.

‘I read it and I was like, “This is so elevated,”’ he said of the script. ‘This writing is supreme. And I got scared. I was like, “I don’t know if I’m good enough to do this. I don’t know if I can portray all these subtleties in a way that’s organic and authentic.”
‘But I prepped a lot and got ready for it. That would have all looked very different had I been drinking. I don’t know if I could have done it.’
