Ione Skye claims ‘pathological cheater’ Anthony Kiedis got her pregnant at 17 (Picture: Rex / Getty) Actress Ione Skye has claimed her ex-boyfriend Anthony Kiedis ‘guiltily’ left her on the curb outside the abortion clinic when she got pregnant at 17.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman, who was 25 at the time, allegedly paid for the procedure but refused to go into the clinic with her.
This bombshell revelation about their relationship, which lasted several years, comes from her new memoir Say Everything.
She and Anthony dated in the late 80s after meeting through his bandmate Flea when she was just 16.
Ione claims he was a ‘pathological cheater’ who was using heroin and other drugs at the time — something the Californication hitmaker has openly discussed in the years since.
After about a year together, the Say Anything actress got pregnant, writing that he ‘guiltily’ dropped her off on the curb but didn’t come in with her.
The actress has revealed all in her memoir (Picture: Jason Howard/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images) ‘Other people in our group had unsafe sex and they were fine, I kept telling myself, using my teenage reasoning,’ she wrote.
Ione added: ‘Of course, I could see how irresponsible we were being. Whether Anthony could see it too, he obviously wasn’t ready to grow up, to take care of himself and others, to make real adult choices.’
She said she had always wanted a baby and even ‘used to fantasise about finding a swaddled infant on my doorstep’.
However, that fantasy was a still a long way off and at 17, she ‘couldn’t see having a baby’ at that time.
They dated in the late 80s when Ione was 16 (Picture: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic) ‘I would not have a baby at 17, with someone who didn’t want to be a dad, wouldn’t commit to me and had anger issues,’ she wrote. ‘Not to mention the heroin.’
Before the abortion, the couple also allegedly had a HIV scare due to Anthony’s needle sharing and accused cheating.
Her mum was afraid that she had begun to use heroin too when she saw a needle mark on her arm but the then teenage actress reassured her it was just for the test.
After an agonising one-month wait, the couple were given the all clear.
‘The whole time I was with Anthony, I think she was equal parts both— relieved I was still okay, and terrified I wouldn’t be,’ Ione wrote.
Anthony struggled with a drug addiction at the time (Picture: Mike Coppola/NBC via Getty Images) Anthony has previously shared how his drug addiction has impacted his life, trying to get clean after the death of bandmate Hillel Slovak from a heroin overdose in 1988.
Recalling the emotional day, Ione wrote that he immediately shot up after hearing the news. He later went to rehab and stayed clean for five years.
Eventually, they spilt, although this came after Ione was supposed to feature on the cover for Mother’s Milk in 1989— but the label thought she looked too young.
‘I’m not in touch with him,’ Ione told People ahead of the memoir release, admitting to feeling nervous about sharing details of their romance.
She also details her own affairs in the memoir, including with numerous women while married to Beastie Boys’ Adam ‘Ad-Rock’ Horovitz.
They eventually split and are no longer in touch (Picture: Bei/Shutterstock) The Wayne’s World actress said the affairs were driven by her own insecurity and feeling lonely while he was away on tour.
Also in the book, Ione claims she had a fling with the late Friends star Matthew Perry, reconnecting for a second time 20 years after they had met.
He apparently called her ‘out of the blue’ for a ‘booty call,’ and she obliged a few times, the last of which was the last time she ever saw him.
Perry died in October 2023 in his hot tub after suffering ‘acute effects’ of a ketamine overdose.
