The 63-year-old country music legend was seen with tears streaming down his face as he watched Yearwood, 60, be honored for her achievements in the entertainment industry on stage.
The ceremony came five months after Brooks was accused of sexual battery and assault in a lawsuit. He has vehemently denied the allegations.
When Yearwood went up to the podium, she thanked her husband for being her biggest ‘cheerleader.’
‘As many accolades and awards as he has won, I never see him get more excited than he does when I receive something,’ she gushed. ‘For all the people that want this for me, nobody wants it more than you. I appreciate you for being my support.’
Yearwood’s ceremony follows Brooks’ claim that he and his wife were considering a move to Ireland in the wake of the allegations against him.
Brooks paired a navy suit jacket with an untucked black shirt, blue jeans, black boots and a patterned straw cowboy hat.
He was already misty-eyed while sitting next to his wife as she was feted on stage.
The star unveiling’s guest speakers included fellow country legend Reba McEntire and newer star Carly Pearce.
Fittingly, Yearwood’s star was located in front of the iconic Capitol Records building, where she had recorded a live-in-studio covers album of songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, titled Let’s Be Frank, in 2018.
Brooks was totally swept up in emotion and tried to swipe at his tears once it was Trisha turn to speak on stage.
Part of that was likely due to her sweet words about him, as Yearwood said she had ‘a lot of Garths in my life’ but ‘the first Garth that I met is here,’ according to People.
She gushed that he had been a lifelong ‘cheerleader’ for her, and she said that despite all the ‘accolades and awards … he has won, I never see him get more excited than he does when I receive something.’
‘For all the people that want this for me, nobody wants it more than you. I appreciate you for being my support,’ she added.
The ceremony followed last week’s performance at the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary, when Brooks and Yearwood sang two duets made popular by the once-married country icons George Jones and Tammy Wynette.
Brooks also sang one of Jones’ most famous solo tunes, He Stopped Loving Her Today.
Although the couple’s affection for each other was palpable during the performance, fans mocked Brooks in particular for what they thought was a ‘butchered’ tribute to Jones.
During an episode of his Facebook Live series Studio G late last year, Brooks revealed he was ‘pushing hard’ to get a house in the Emerald Isle.
‘We played two weekends, so we went on that stint across the country, and everyone was so sweet to her,’ he said in November.
The country singer noted that his wife also ‘fell head over heels in love’ with Ireland while touring there in 2022.
Brooks has been hugely-popular in Ireland since the 1990s, with his 2022 concerts sparking a historic storm of demand for tickets.
In early October, the Friends In Low Places star was accused of raping a makeup artist, who formerly worked for his wife, according to a claim filed in a state court in California.
Hours after allegations were made, Brooks told DailyMail.com that the lawsuit was a ‘hush money’ shakedown.
‘For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.
‘Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another,’ he added.
Brooks, who previously denied the claims in a complaint filed under ‘John Doe’, said: ‘We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.’
Brooks said the situation ‘has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.’
He added, ‘I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.’
The plaintiff, who filed anonymously as ‘Jane Roe’, alleges the country icon brought her with him to Los Angeles for a Grammy event honoring the R&B singer Sam Moore in May 2019.
She claims The Thunder Rolls singer booked only one hotel suite there for both of them, and when she asked for a separate accommodation, he would not provide one.
She accuses him of then accosting her in the doorway nude, hauling her into another room, dangling her upside down by the ankles and raping her, in court documents obtained by Dailymail.com.
Before the makeup artist filed her lawsuit, Brooks was aware of her allegations and anonymously filed to fight back, using the name ‘John Doe,’ as reported by CNN.
‘Jane Roe’ was originally hired to do hair and makeup for Yearwood in 1999, and Brooks eventually enlisted her to do so for him in 2017, she claims.
A screenshot, included in the filing, revealed a text conversation allegedly showing ‘sexually explicit’ messages between herself and Brooks.
‘And that huge stick you carry! Roo-sevelt!!’ the plaintiff allegedly wrote in a redacted text featured in the lawsuit, per In Touch.
‘I’ll take that nick-name. Thank you. I love you,’ Brooks allegedly replied, with laughing and heart emojis.
She also accuses him of exposing his buttocks and genitals to her on more than one occasion and repeatedly changing clothes in front of her.
According to the makeup artist’s suit, Brooks allegedly made advances to her at his home in 2019, before the Los Angeles trip when she says the rape occurred.
She claims she was at Brooks’ house, waiting for him to meet her so that she could apply his makeup, when he emerged naked and erect from the shower.
She alleges that he then ‘grabbed her hands and forced them’ onto his erection, telling her he harbored fantasies that she would perform fellatio on him while wearing her glasses until he would eventually climax onto her face.
The makeup artist accuses Brooks of raping her later that year when they traveled to Los Angeles for his appearance at the Sam Moore tribute.
In her lawsuit, ‘Jane Roe’ claims that she and Brooks did not typically travel alone together, but the Los Angeles trip was an exception.
‘Usually there were others on Brooks’ private jet but this time, Ms. Roe and Brooks were the only two passengers,’ the suit reads. ‘Once in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a hotel suite with one bedroom and she did not have a separate room.’
She allegedly raised her objections to the arrangement and asked for a room of her own, but she claims Brooks would not budge on the matter.
At the hotel, she alleges, he ‘appeared in the doorway to the bedroom, completely naked,’ and she felt ‘trapped in the room alone with Brooks.’
The plaintiff, who is said to be about five feet tall, claims he grabbed her by her ankles and held her upside down while he vaginally raped her.
The makeup artist accuses Brooks of thrusting himself into her so violently that she ‘felt as if she were breaking in two,’ according to legal docs.
She continued working on his hair and makeup throughout the trip because she needed the job as a result of her financial difficulties, she says, adding that Brooks allegedly exploited her circumstances to his advantage.
She accuses Brooks of fondling her breasts while she applied makeup to him — despite her telling him not to — as well as of masturbating once she was finished.
In her lawsuit, the makeup artist claims that after the alleged rape, Brooks continued groping her and related his sexual fantasies to her more often than he did previously.
Brooks is claimed to have made ‘repeated remarks’ about ‘having a threesome’ with Yearwood and the makeup artist, according to the plaintiff.
The plaintiff claimed in court docs that she clashed with the Tulsa, Oklahoma native over a May 2020 incident in which he spoke to her, Yearwood and his manager about inventing a shampoo bottle that would function as a sex toy.
Brooks was visibly furious when she would not comment on the sexually-charged discussion, the plaintiff said.
She said she sent him notices via text and email that she could not ‘work in an environment where explicitly sexual comments are made about shampoo bottles doubling as dildos.’
Brooks told her in response that she was ‘over-thinking’ the issue and that Yearwood wasn’t ‘uncomfortable’ with that tenor of discussion, the plaintiff said in court docs.
The plaintiff claimed in court docs that in another 2020 incident, Brooks ‘took her phone and deleted most of the text messages that he had sent to her’ while she was working with him at a studio.
In mid-September, before she filed suit against him, Brooks anonymously submitted a federal court filing in Mississippi to try to suppress her accusations, CNN reported.Describing himself as ‘a celebrity and public figure who resides in Tennessee,’ he maintained that the makeup artist was leveling ‘false allegations’ against him.
Following the lawsuit, his wife and three daughters said they ‘believe him’ after Brooks denied the rape allegations.
‘Garth is known to be a very kind and nice man, so these allegations are very shocking. Everyone around him including Trisha and his daughters believe him to be telling the truth,’ an insider told Us Weekly.
‘Many around him think this is out of character and something he would never do. Everyone around him is shocked,’ the source continued.
He shares his three grown daughters – Taylor, 32, August, 30, and Allie, 28 – with his first wife Sandy Mahl, whom he married in 1986 and separated from in 2000.
Brooks, who was first introduced to Yearwood in 1988, began dating her the year he split from Mahl and ultimately married her in 2005.
The source who worked with him added: ‘All Garth cares about is his family and his fans. He is a family man and is very down to earth.’
Brooks has been dividing his time between his lavish four-bed five-bath Nashville mansion and Las Vegas where he continues to perform on his Plus ONE residency amid the lawsuit,
The musician bought the land on which this mansion was built for $444,000 in 2001.
