The documentary “Armed with a Song” by the American documentary director Ryan Smith will soon appear on Kyivstar TV.

The premiere of the film in Ukraine took place in September, and already this Saturday, November 16, it will appear on the Kyivstar TV film and television platform. The film features the works of modern Ukrainian artists who convey the feeling of love for the Motherland through music.Smith chose Andrii Khlyvnyuk, the soloist of the Boombox band, as the main character. Mykola Serga and Sasha Chemerov talked about the idea and purpose of creating “Cultural Landing”, which made a great impression on foreign viewers. Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, the band DakhaBrakha, Svitlana Tarabarova and more share their own stories and visions in the film. The storyline of this documentary is built from archival footage of the heroes from 2022, their comments and many Ukrainian musical compositions.
The film was first presented at the Tribeca festival in New York. In general, the director created this documentary for a foreign audience, because inspired by the songs of Ukrainian artists, he decided to convey the realities of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the first days and the atrocities in Mariupol.
