He was seen drinking in a bar opposite his hotel an hour after he checked inCredit: Asia Pacific Press via ViralPress Joshua, from Grimsby in Lincolnshire, checked into the Maxim’s Inn in the Sukhumvit 7/1 on the evening of January 12, before he had planned on travelling to the tourist town Pattaya.
The Brit’s body was found the following afternoon by shocked maids, who rang the police.
Officers attempted to resuscitate Joshua before taking him away.
The mystery surrounding his death deepened as investigators said a man arrived at his hotel searching for him later that day, only to be told he had passed away.
The identity of the visitor remains unknown and officers have not revealed Joshua’s cause of death.
On the evening of January 12, he was seen in security footage from a bar opposite his hotel sitting with a woman, after which he was seen eating pizza and fried chicken, washing the food down with several beers.
Joshua then collapsed in the bar, before an ambulance rushed him to hospital.
Bar staff suspected he had been eating too quickly and choked on his food.
One witness said he had arrived at around 1.30am with a woman.
“They sat in a corner of the restaurant on red chairs next to the pool table,” she said.
“He ordered pizza, fried chicken, and beer for two people, and he ate very quickly, as if he were extremely hungry.
“He then fell off his chair and collapsed, losing consciousness,” she said.
“The woman screamed in fear until the bar owner needed to calm her down, and one of our staff members called for an ambulance from Chulalongkorn hospital.”
The witness said the woman had gone with him in the ambulance.
Joshua later discharged himself and is understood to have returned to the busy party strip until 5.45am when he was seen returning to his hotel room, carrying two beers.
He was found dead later that afternoon.

“The door was not locked,” she said.
“I checked on him and saw that he was not breathing and his skin was already pale.
“I was shaking with fear and felt so sorry for him. He was still very young,” she added.
Tragically, Joshua’s relatives only found out he had passed nine days after his death, following their last contact with him.
His distraught family had launched a GoFundMe in a desperate bid to reach him.

His family said they did not know why it had taken the police from the Lumpini district station and the British Embassy in Bangkok to contact them.
Family friend Anna Mohammed, who filed the missing person report, said: “We found this out early today that Joshua never left Bangkok for Pattaya”.
Mohammed – who had been liaising with Pattaya police – said cops did not seem to know about Joshua’s case.
“At first, there was a great deal of confusion about where he had been, and nobody seemed to know anything for certain,” she said.
“We didn’t know which hotel he checked into or where exactly he was staying.
“The last time he contacted his mum … he said he was going out to eat. He sent her photos of his food and later of himself sitting with beers, but the pictures didn’t show anything else that could help identify his location.
“We are still waiting to hear the post-mortem results and to find out how long he had been dead and what his cause of death was,” Mohammed added.
Joshua had been in Thailand for a week’s holiday, before he was due to return to the UK on Monday.
