The star grew up in front of the camera after launching her acting career as a young girl, and is now in a new era of her life as a talk show host.
Now, with her birthday less than two months away, Barrymore is sharing a message with followers that goes more than skin deep.
On Tuesday, she displayed her bare, make-up free complexion in a video that showcased her stunning face, fine lines and all.
‘Aging is a privilege. It is not something to fear,’ she wrote in the video.
Indeed, Barrymore did not shy away from displaying her stunning, au natural complexion – even zooming in to show off her various lines.
The comments section were filled with praise by fans elated by the statement she was making.
‘Yes it is…AND U LOOK NATURALLY N ORGANICALLY BEAUTIFUL!’ one fan posted.
‘Yes. A thousand times, YES!!!!! How lucky we are to be alive to do all the things. Xxx,’ another posted.
Chef Carla Hall commented: ‘Those beautiful laugh and smile lines are EVERYTHING!!’
It’s not the first time Barrymore has gotten candid with fans about getting older.
She opened up about coming to grips with the little lines on her face earlier this year on her talk show.
‘Can you let us know your secret to aging gracefully and being so comfortable in your own skin?’ a woman in the audience asked.
Barrymore admitted she hadn’t ‘done anything’ and intends on keeping it that way.
‘I haven’t done anything and I want to try and stay that way,’ she told the crowd.
‘But I also am like, do whatever works for you. The only thing I do know is don’t judge other people because they do things differently,’ she explained.
‘We’re all on our own path and we have to support each other,’ the Whip It director said, admitting she has her own struggles.
‘I see a lot of turkey neck or I have a lot of other time where I’m like “Oh Wow, we’re there now.”‘
As for being self-confident, Barrymore said ‘I want to tell myself not to be so mean to myself.’
‘How many beautiful moments do we even get the privilege of seeing our reflection and that person looking back at us is us?’ she asked.
‘So the kinder, more patient, more resilient, more loving, embracing, less dismissive that we can be, the better it is for our mental game and spiritual game, which affects the face.’
Explaining some of her own philosophy the mom of daughters Olive, 13, and Frankie, 11, said, ‘A smile is better than any lipstick you’ll buy.’
