The 79-year-old music icon appeared in bright spirits as she sent a message of gratitude to her fans and their loved ones.
“Well hey! It’s Dolly here, and I want to wish all of you and your family blessings this Thanksgiving,” she said. “I am so thankful for all of you and for the memories that we’ve shared through the years. So Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and just know that I will always love you.”
The country superstar sparked concerns after facing health challenges amid canceling a planned Las Vegas residency and an appearance at November’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 16th Governors Awards, where she was set to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
In a video shared in October, Parton addressed the ongoing rumors and emphasized, “I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me, and I ain’t done working.”
She explained that because she hadn’t taken care of herself after her husband Carl Thomas Dean died in March, she “let a lot of things go” that should have been taken care of. She did not address the source of the health challenges at the time.
“So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this. We need to take care of that.’ Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt, you know, where I’m kind of having a few treatments here and there,” Parton said.
She also thanked everyone for their concerns at the time, “So I love you for caring and keep praying for me.”
After asking for prayers for Parton at the time, Dolly’s sister Freida Parton had also released a statement assuring that she didn’t mean to scare anyone: “I want to clear something up. I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly. She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”
