According to him, it was part of a diplomacy that allowed to release 14 political prisoners. He told about it in an interview with Politico.

“I drank two shots – I didn’t get me, but the third did not drink,” Cole shared with journalists.

According to lawyer Trump, Lukashenko seemed smart and insightful to him. He added that the head of Belarus wants to participate in negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on ceasefire.

“He really wants to improve relations with the United States,” Cole said.

The publication reminded that the US delegation arrived in Belarus for negotiations on the release of political prisoners in Belarusian prisons, as well as Yuras Zenkovich, a naturalized US citizen arrested in Moscow in 2021 on charges of preparing a coup.

In total, 14 prisoners were taken by bus to Minsk. Among them was the famous oppositionist Sergei Tikhanovsky, who was detained in 2020.

“They were horror. Open the door and make them realize that they were free, was truly a stunning moment,” Kol recalls.

Journalists noted that in 2020 relations between the US and Belarus were deadlocked when protests against falsification of elections led to mass arrests of Belarusians. The departure of envoys made it possible to bypass the US State Department Bureaucracy and agree on the release of prisoners.

Visit of the American delegation to Belarus – what is knownRecall that on June 21, the US delegation, led by US Special Representative, came to Belarus Kellog. According to the Belarusian media, the parties discussed the situation in the world and Belarusian-American relations.

After this visit, the self -proclaimed President of Belarus Oleksandr Lukashenko stated that Kellogo allegedly promised him to “work on the restriction of the strikes of Ukraine in the Russian Federation.” The US Presidential Special Representative assured that they discussed a full and unconditional ceasefire on both sides.

The New York Times wrote that the American delegation was a visit to Belarus in order to urge Lukashenko to help the war between Russia and Ukraine. It was the first meeting between high -ranking White House officials and Belarusian leader for more than five years.
