Dean Cain was slammed by John Leguizamo in a scathing post criticizing him for joining the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Earlier this week, Cain, an actor who is known for portraying Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in the 90s, announced that he wanted ‘to help save America.’

He said he would be joining ICE ‘ASAP’ after sharing that he backed Trump’s immigration crackdown — just shortly after he revealed the racist slur he was once called after being cast as Superman.

The television host, 59, previously portrayed the famous superhero in the aforementioned, popular TV show from 1993 to 1997.

In response to the news, Leguizamo expressed his disapproval by reposting a meme poking fun at Cain, which created by an X user.

The post included a photo of the Superman star with ‘Pronouns: Has/Been’ written over his face.

Mocking Cain, the social media user wrote, ‘Dean who?’ and in response, Leguizamo added, ‘Nuff said!’

On the same day, the Colombian actor, who has appeared in over 100 films including Die Hard 2 as well as voice acted in Ice Age and Encanto, also shared another photo of Cain in a separate Instagram post, writing: ‘How big of a loser do you have to be to volunteer to be an ICE OFFICER???’

Leguizamo, who was born and raised in Bogota before he became a Hollywood star, has long been vocal about advocating for immigrants and frequently shares his political beliefs on social media.

Last month, he even got into a heated exchange with Bill Maher when the latter complained about undocumented immigrants from ‘s***hole countries.’

The actor pushed back against Maher during an episode of the 69-year-old comedian’s Club Random podcast and insisted there is ‘plenty of room’ in America.

Leguizamo’s recent criticism of Cain comes after the Superman star said he wanted to support Trump’s immigration crackdown and lend aid to recruitment efforts.

In a video posted to social media on Wednesday, Cain said: ‘I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it. So I joined up.’

He encouraged others to apply for ICE positions, citing a $50,000 signing bonus, student loan repayment, and enhanced retirement benefits for those in law enforcement roles.

‘If you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from America’s streets,’ Cain said. ‘They need your help, we need your help, to protect our homeland for families.

‘Join today if it’s something that tickles your fancy because we can use you.’

Cain went on to say that under President Donald Trump, ICE had arrested ‘hundreds of thousands of criminals including terrorists, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers.’

While ICE does report arrests in these categories, reports show that many ICE arrests also include people with no criminal record or minor offenses.

Cain’s announcement comes as Homeland Security pushes to recruit more ICE agents.

Last week, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem released a statement saying, ‘Your country is calling you to serve at ICE… Together, we must defend the homeland.’

Cain has remained closely tied to his Superman role and has supported inclusive portrayals of the character in the past.

He previously voiced support for actor Michael B. Jordan playing a Black Superman and praised James Gunn’s interpretation of the character, which includes themes of belonging and inclusion.

Superman, a character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster — both sons of Jewish immigrants, is an alien from the planet Krypton who is raised in Kansas and ultimately becomes a symbol of American values.

In a recent episode of Vox’s Today, Explained, titled Super Mad About Superman, guest scholars and pop culture historians noted that Superman’s story parallels the immigrant experience in the United States.

They noted that this has always been the case.

In a scene that Cain is in himself, Superman is frustrated by the fact that Immigration Services ask him for his green card, as they say, ‘You’re an alien, are you not?’
