Daniel Craig got the giggles after Sesame Street made a parody of his latest Knives Out movie.

The James Bond star, 57, plays the iconic private detective Benoit Blanc in the film franchise – and now Sesame Street have taken a crack at their own rendition.

Ahead of the release of the third instalment, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Daniel was shown the spoof of Knives Out, introducing detective Beignet Blanc.

‘I love it,’ Daniel said in stitches, adding Beignet is: ‘Much better looking than I am.’

The English actor then jokingly asked them not to show it to Knives out director Rian Johnson, joking: ‘Don’t show this to Rian. I’m recast.’

In the spoof, Grover is helping Daniel’s detective Beignet Blanc with a culinary investigation – to find out who ate Cookie Monster’s pie.

Daniel put out a call for Grover to be his next ‘sidekick’.

‘See, now that’s the sort of sidekick I need,’ he said, adding that his Wake Up Dead Man co-star Josh O’Connor’s acting ‘is not dissimilar’.

Daniel quipped: ‘It’s not dissimilar to the way Josh acts, actually. It’s that little subtle thing that he does.’

He then revealed he loved the homage so much he was very disappointed out not to have been a part of it.

He said: ‘The only thing I’m spitting feathers here is that I’m not there actually doing it with them.

‘As someone who grew up on Sesame Street, this is quite moving.’

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has already been hailed a triumph – with the film landing a perfect 100 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its release.

The third instalment in Rian’s hit whodunnit franchise sees Benoit investigating a chilling murder in a sombre church setting.

Joining Daniel on screen is a glittering cast, including Andrew Scott, Glenn Close, Josh, Cailee Spaeny, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.

Jeremy Renner, who made a cameo reference in the earlier films, will also step into a more central role this time.

The film is not out on Netflix until Friday, but early critics’ reviews were glowing after its brief cinematic release.

Collider declared: ‘Wake Up Dead Man is twistier, darker and more emotional than the previous two installments, in which Johnson explores ideas of faith and logic and the mythologising that gets us through the day – all in a brilliant murder mystery.’

Punch Drunk Critics agreed, calling it ‘the most intricate mystery of them all, grappling with issues of faith, redemption, revenge and forgiveness.’

Meanwhile, The Wrap branded the film a ‘glorious, goofy gothic horror.’

They added: ‘Although Wake Up Dead Man is the Knives Out movie that’s most preoccupied with existential questions surrounding death, writer and director Rian Johnson’s third film in the series is also the one that’s most full of life.’

The Netflix production started principal photography last summer and director Rian gushed about the cast he has assembled for the film.

‘We’ve been very lucky with each of these movies to have gathered some of my favourite actors on the planet, and that’s absolutely the case here,’ he said referring to Daniel, as well as other stars.

‘They’re also all lovely folks who get along, which is the dinner party aspect of it. When you’re making an ensemble movie like this I think that’s key.’

Jeremy takes on a whole part in the third film. He appeared in the second film in the form of a bottle of ‘Renning Hot’ habanero chili pepper sauce.

He took that joke in stride and Johnson was thrilled to get the chance to work with him.

‘Jeremy’s a great actor who I’ve wanted to work with for a long time,’ Rian told Netflix’s Tudum.

‘I was very relieved he thought the hot sauce thing was funny! He’s playing a proper part in this one, we’ll keep the sauce off screen. Maybe we’ll sneak a few bottles onto the catering table.’
