China showed the test of a mysterious hypersonic “plane”

The video shows, in particular, the launch of one of these “planes” from a high-altitude balloon. The academy said that he reached a speed of 7 M, after which he made a successful landing.

It will be recalled that the new MD-22 aircraft was presented at the Zhuhai Air Show the year before last. It is positioned as a demonstrator and test platform for hypersonic technologies. In the future, they can be used for military purposes, for example, intelligence.

It should be noted that the designation “MD-19” can be seen in the new video. That is, we are obviously talking about another device of this series.

According to data from open sources, the length of the MD-22 is 10.8 m, while the width is 4.5 m. It can fly at a speed of up to 7 M and has a flight range of up to 8 thousand km.

The battery included a mobile control point and a launcher. It was the latter that caused the most difficulties during the tests.
