Now it’s official: ChatGPT will soon have ads / photos from ua.depositphotos.comOpenAI has officially announced that ChatGPT will soon feature embedded advertising. The company is launching testing of advertising blocks right inside the dialogue with the chatbot, writes WIRED.
Formally, this is presented as “helpful recommendations”. So, when asked to suggest a culinary recipe, ChatGPT will reset options for home delivery of products, and when asked about another country, it will give a link to the hotel reservation service. Such ads will appear at the bottom of the response and will be clearly marked.
A ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Enterprise subscription is required to disable ads. Ads will also not be shown to users under the age of 18 and in conversations about sensitive topics such as health, psychology or politics.
The company emphasizes that advertisers will not have access to user conversations and will not be able to influence the display of ads.
OpenAI launches advertising in ChatGPTAdvertising testing will begin in the coming weeks and for now only for the US, and later – in all countries where the service is available, including Ukraine.
OpenAI announced the appearance of advertising in ChatGPT as early as 2024. At the same time, the company’s co-founder Sam Altman said that the combination of artificial intelligence and advertising can raise ethical questions and reduce user trust.
Earlier this month, ChatGPT introduced a mode for medical consultations. Users can connect medical charts and health apps like Apple Health or MyFitness to the chatbot.
