In 2016 Fisher – best known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise – died at the age of 60.
A day later her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, then died aged 84 after suffering a stroke.
Days after their deaths Billie, who has starred in Scream Queens and American Horror Story, issued a heartbreaking statement following the loss of her mother and grandmother.
‘Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist. There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my one and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me,’ she wrote.
In the years since Billie has continued to share tributes to them online, including at the weekend to celebrate Star Wars Day.

On Sunday Billie revealed that she acknowledged the event, and that her children also took part.
Posting a photo on Instagram, she showed her 4-year-old son, Kingston Fisher, and 2-year-old daughter, Jackson Joanne, watching Fisher in 1983’s Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
Both children – who Billie shares with husband Austen Rydell – looked captivated by watching their late grandmother on screen.
Captioning the post, Billie spelt out ‘May the 4th’ with a series of emojis, a nod many loved.
‘Oh, this makes me cry. How beautiful to see their big mama. Love to you,’ Rosanna Arquette, who starred alongside Fisher in 1990’s Sweet Revenge, commented.

The official Star Wars account also added: ‘May the 4th be with you 💙.’
Another also shared: ‘Your mum inspired generations—and now her granddaughters get to see her shine. What a powerful moment.’
To mark the day, Billie also shared a photo on the set of the 2017 film Star Wars: The Last Jedi in which she starred alongside her mum, as well as a throwback cast photo shared by director Rian Johnson.
After starring in the original Star Wars trilogy from 1997-1983, Fisher reprised the role of Princess Leia for 2015’ss Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Footage filmed before her death was then used in The Last Jedi, with archival footage was repurposed for 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Meanwhile Billie also has a history with the sci-fi franchise, having played Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.
In 2024 Billie marked the eight-year anniversary of her mum’s death with a touching post.
‘It has been 8 years since my mom died. As my son would say “that’s a lot!” I always dread this day. I spend so much time leading up to it thinking about how awful I’m going to feel. And my dread is usually right. I woke up this morning with a dark cloud over me. But when my kids woke up the dark cloud dissipated and made way for bright glowing sunshine. Her death anniversary is like an emotional tropical storm. It pours rain a lot of the day but between the storms the light is more beautiful than on any day without storm clouds. There are no rainbows without rain,’ she shared on Instagram.
‘My grief has given me a deeper appreciation for all the little moments of life. So today I am griefful (griefy but grateful). I watch the magic that is my son and daughter, and I know she is a piece of that magic. And I feel all the things. The grief. The joy. The longing. The magic. The emptiness. The fullness. And it all coexists in a profound way. Sending my love to everyone out there who needs it.’
