Carol Vorderman stepped back from her Sunday LBC show last year (Picture: Mark Cuthbert/UK Press via Getty Images) Carol Vorderman has said she’s had a ‘hellish’ year for her health, after she was forced to quit her Sunday LBC radio show last year.
The 64-year-old former Countdown fixture announced she had quit the Sunday show after suffering burnout from working seven-day weeks ‘for as long as I can remember’.
At the time, Vorderman was briefly hospitalised, but scans revealed no underlying issues, so the presenter took the health scare as a ‘warning sign’ to slow down.
She has now spoken in an interview about being ‘very poorly’ after stepping away from her work commitments, although she clarified her recent health issues were separate to the burnout she had experienced.
Ahead of hosting the annual Pride of Britain Awards, the brainbox told The Mirror that things are finally looking up, since she’s been put on the right medication.
She told the publication: ‘This year has been a bit hellish health-wise. I’ve been very poorly, not related to the burnout but something entirely different.

Voderman went on to say that she has been relying on a circle of good friends to lift her spirits and help her enjoy her new time off.
‘I’ve had lots of mini-breaks and holidays with friends – gay friends, female friends I’ve had for 50 years, or some I’ve known for 10,’ she explained.
‘I’ve been back to horse racing, I’ve travelled to the States, to France, to everywhere, actually!’
After Vorderman stepped back from her LBC spot, it was Vanessa Feltz who was named to replace her Sunday slot.

I’m looking forward to holding Britain’s biggest and most spirited conversation with my lovely LBC listeners every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.’
Vorderman shared the news of her LBC Sunday slot departure on Instagram, writing: ‘After working 7-day weeks for as long as I can remember, I finally burned out just over 2 weeks ago and I ended up overnight in hospital.
‘Luckily, after many scans and checks, we know that I don’t have any underlying health issues whatsoever.
‘So, after a proper talking to from my family and my buddies, I’ve taken the health scare as a warning sign to slow down slightly and have decided to cut my work back to weekdays for now.
‘It pains me to have to do it, but I’ve decided not to carry on with my Sunday show on LBC.’
