There is now a small silicone gasket around Magsafe.
Apple has changed the storage conditions of iPhone 17 in stores / photo – ConsomacApple had to change the branded showcase stands of Magsafe after the demos of the iPhone 17 Pro began to notice strange traces and scuffs. The network was baptized by ScratchGate, but the company stated that it was not a scratch, but a trace of transferring the material from old charging stands.
According to Consomac to solve the problem, Apple has updated Magsafest’s showcases, now they are equipped with a soft silicone ring that separates charging from the glass rear phone panel.
Apple emphasizes that this is a result of the wear of the demonstration accessories that can withstand thousands of connections daily. The plaque from the back panel, as the company specified, can be wiped easily – the glass will remain whole.
Interestingly, similar traces appeared on past iPhone models, but it was in the 17th series that they became more noticeable because of a new matte body cover. In order to avoid recurring the situation, Apple has instructed employees to change the worn Magsafe sites more often and clean demo devices regularly.
The company assures that buyers have nothing to worry about, in normal conditions, such traces do not appear.
Earlier, we told that Apple recommends “salt” iPhone 17 to remove scratches – and it works. The method was checked by 9TO5Mac authors – they wiped the iPhone 17 Pro with water with sea salt and say it really helped.
