Alan Carr says fans will see ‘a different side to him’ on The Celebrity Traitors… and insists there will be ‘no comedy’ as he plans to win hit show by relying on his old call centre skills

The comedian, 49, has confessed his strategy to not using comedy and honing in on his former days of working in a call center in a bid to win the popular BBC game show. 

This year will see a range of A-listers including Paloma Faith, Charlotte Church and Kate Garraway as they enter Claudia Winkleman’s castle on Wednesday.

Ahead of the series debut, Alan said: ‘There will be a different side to me. I’ll have to adapt; no comedy, it’s one of those shows where you have to shape-shift.

‘You have to chat to people you wouldn’t normally chat with just to see if they are hiding anything. I don’t think it’s a case of how good you are at being a traitor or a faithful.

‘It’s how you adapt and how you draw on your social skills. I’ve worked in a call centre where I had to deal with one thing after another, so I think my call-centre skills are going to come in handy.’

And Alan was not the only one who walked in with a strategy as fellow contestant Jonathan Ross said his lack of trust for celebrities would help him on the show.

He explained: ‘I’ve watched all the versions around the world and I love playing games.

‘I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be in the castle. It’s one of those experiences that money can’t buy to actually be in The Traitors after you’ve watched it so many times.

‘Because, of course, we all watch it at home and love it at home, and I’m really fascinated to find out how it feels to be right in the middle of the action.

‘Also, because I don’t trust any celebrities, I think I’m going to immediately assume they’re all traitors.’

The former Chatty Man also explained that he would like to win so he can ‘wipe the smirk of his friends faces’.

According to The Mirror, Alan thought his agent started booking him in for gigs for  the second week and his friends were convinced he would be out on the first week. 

It is also believed that diver Tom packed ‘a suitcase of wool’ to help him and the other contestants wind down after each of the intense days. 

And while Tom confessed to be competitive and wanting to win, he explained his downfall is that he is very trusting of other people. 

Despite the first series of the spin off not yet airing, The Celebrity Traitors series two is reportedly ‘a done deal’ ahead of their spin-off debut.

Another year of celebrity spin-off of popular BBC show is already said to be ‘in the bag’, according to The Sun. 

Bosses are expecting the first season to be a hit as the last civilian run, which aired in January, attracted huge ratings of seven million per episode. 

Before the series airs on BBC One, bosses are believed to have already started eyeing up the next line up. 

It remains to be seen who will be Faithful and who will be a dreaded Traitor this time around, but given the personalities involved, we’re expecting fireworks.

Host Claudia has already stipulated that there will be no special treatment for celebs, so no doubt they’ll be put through their paces with the usual array of wacky challenges.

A source told the publication: ‘The Celebrity Traitors is landing at the very peak of the format’s popularity, it’s the biggest show on the box, globally, and the cast is exceptional.

‘Everyone knows something would have gone incredibly wrong if this didn’t become the TV event of the year.

‘The official message is that a formal recommission depends how well series one does, but in reality it’s all but a done deal.’

A Traitors Spokesperson told DailyMail: ‘It would be foolhardy for any faithful to foreshadow what the future could entail.’
