While no details about the next chapter in 007’s book have been confirmed as yet, attention is once again focusing on who the next James Bond is actually going to be.
One of the frontrunners for the past few years is still one of the favourites to take over from Daniel Craig and a recent, shall we say, achievement, could be what’s needed to persuade the studio to cast him as the next super spy.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson may be keeping tight-lipped on whether or not he is signing on to be the next Bond, but when it comes to good looks, the 34-year-old English star has officially been declared the most handsome man in the world.
Well, at least according to science.
Through computerised facial mapping techniques developed by Dr Julian de Silva, it has been found that the Bullet Train actor has a 93.04% accuracy rating according to the Greek Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi.
The test is a mathematical equation created to measure physical perfection, with the doctor explaining that Aaron is a ‘clear winner’.
‘What makes Aaron so exceptional is the overall shape of his face, which, with a score of 99.2%, is only 0.8% off being perfect,’ he said.

Aaron has not commented on the findings (Picture: Angela Weiss/AFP via Getty Images) ‘The width and length of his nose is almost perfect, too, at 98.8%. He also has a beautifully sculpted chin, which scored well at 95%.’
Julian continued to say all of Aaron’s scores were ‘really strong’, but there was one category where he lacked, which was his eye spacing. Euqaliting to 89%, the only thing lower was his lips, which earned an 86% score.
Despite this, if Aaron were cast as Bond, it would mean he is by far the most handsome star to be cast in the role.
According to Julian’s findings, Sean Connery, who played the fictional secret agent in the 1983 film Never Say Never Again, was the closest to Aaron on the list with an 89.2% rating.

Paul came in third (Picture: Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Paramount Pictures) Coming in as a close second is Emily In Paris star Lucien Laviscount, 32, who was found to have a slightly lower but still impressive score of 92.41%, while Irish actor, Paul Mescal, 28, was found to have a score of 92.38%.
Robert Pattinson, 38, was also named on the list. Taking out fourth place, The Batman actor, who actually topped the list in 2020, was given a 92.15% rating and Jack Lowden, 34, known for his role in Slow Horses was found to have a 90.33% score.

Theo, 39, has appeared on many possible Bond lists alongside the likes of Henry Cavill, rising star Aaron Pierre, Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey and James Norton.
Global head of Amazon MGM Studios Jennifer Salke revealed in October during an interview with The Guardian that they are in ‘no rush’ to find the next Bond and urged fans to be ‘patient’.
Plenty of Bond buzz has been following Aaron (Picture: Andrew Toth/WireImage) Despite science placing Aaron in a pretty impressive position, the star isn’t letting anything slip about whether or not he is the next Bond.
While at the recent New York premiere of his new Marvel comics action movie, Kraven The Hunter, where he plays Spider-Man’s titular arch-nemesis, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the assumed front runner for Bond, shut down any rumours.
Entertainment Tonight asked the star: ’Another character everyone is dying to see you as is Bond. What do you make of that suggestion that fans have?’
After a quick chuckle, Aaron replied: ‘I would say come see Kraven because that’s what’s out this weekend, and it’s not going to disappoint. I promise you that, guys.’
It’s perhaps not a surprising response, as Aaron has been dodging the question ever since 2021 when Daniel retired from the role.
Amazon MGM Studios gain creative control over James Bond Yesterday, a major announcement revealed that the Broccoli family have ceded creative control of the James Bond franchise to Amazon MGM Studios.
For more than 60 years, the family has had the final say on key production issues, including casting and director, but now they have ‘formed a new joint venture to house the James Bond intellectual property rights’ with the streaming giant.
This means that while the family will remain ‘co-owners of the franchise’, it is Amazon MGM Studios that will be making all the decisions about any upcoming Bond productions.
Naturally, it’s resulted in some tense criticism, including from former Bond girl Valerie Leon, who called the takeover ‘absolute madness’, when appearing on Good Morning Britain.
‘Of course, money was involved, and that’s why Amazon has taken it over. it’ll never be the same again, ever.’
Will James Bond return as a TV show or film?
Barbara and her family have relinquished creative control after more than 60 years (Picture: REX/Shutterstock) It has been confirmed that the 26th James Bond film is currently in development. Unfortunately, that’s all that has been confirmed. At the time of writing, we have no casting details, release dates or storyline details.
Industry experts are also predicting a TV series could be in the works based on what happened when George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012.
The streamer quickly went on to create a trilogy of Star Wars series, including Andor, The Mandalorian and The Acylote. The series were quicker to make than films, meaning fans didn’t need to wait three or so years between productions.
However, this is all speculation, as Amazon MGM Studios has not officially confirmed upcoming productions.

After all, we all know Amazon is likely to exploit its new crown jewel to the max, in all the ways it couldn’t before – we’re talking spin-offs and sequels as well as branded shopping bags and toilet paper. Bond’s cinematic image has been so carefully protected for decades, with its studio Eon understanding that scarcity creates hype, and quality should always win out over quantity. And if Bond is promoting anything, it’s luxury watches and Aston Martins.
You can’t doubt the efforts that have gone into making 007 films, and even if every decision hasn’t been perfect, they’ve always tried to (eventually) move with the times. We’ve had 50-year-old Bond girl Monica Bellucci on Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson’s watch, as well as Black 007 Lashana Lynch in No Time To Die, Dame Judi Dench’s M scolding Pierce Brosnan’s Bond as ‘a sexist, misogynist dinosaur’ – and the introduction of one of the franchise’s greatest successes, Daniel Craig in the role.
Since his retirement in 2021, fans have been chomping at the bit for updates on the next actor to be cast and the next film – the three-and-a-half-years of silence and this recent news suggests a power tussle, already rumoured, between Amazon and Broccoli and Wilson that the technology giant has seemingly won.
As a Brit, one of the things we’re probably most focused on is, will this mean an end to the previous guard’s insistence that the new 007 must be a British rising star in their mid-30s? Someone who can commit a decade of their life to the role and allow it to define them? Or are we about to get Tom Cruise’s take on the spy, or Dwayne Johnson’s, as algorithms are turned to for guidance on casting, script and storyline? Jeff Bezos already got straight on X, asking his followers who should play Bond next.
Alongside the announcement though, is Wilson’s comment that, at 83, he is stepping back from making films. He’s spent nearly 60 years working on the 007 franchise, so his retirement is richly deserved – and being between eras and at a natural break, perhaps it gave permission for him and his half-sister Broccoli to look towards other pursuits?
And perhaps my misgivings will be proven foolish – the public famously didn’t trust Broccoli and Wilson’s decision to cast Craig until they saw how he and Casino Royale refreshed the entire genre. Maybe, just maybe, Amazon will be able to that too.
