GenerationOne can print in up to 5 axes instead of the usual 3.
The GenerationOne printer was presented in London / Photo – Generative Machine CompanyTwo London companies – Generative Machine and Aibuild – presented GenerationOne – an unusual 3D printer created with the help of generative AI.
The novelty is distinguished not only by its organic appearance, but also by the fact that it is able to print in 5 axes, while most models are limited to 3.
The working area is about 140×180 mm, the platform is variable, and the alignment is fully automatic. The base moves along linear guides, which ensures high accuracy, and the printer is assembled from standard components. So far it is designed for PLA and PETG, with no support for carbon fiber or engineering materials.
The main innovation of GenerationOne is 5-axis printing, which was previously used in robotics and industrial 3D production. In classic FDM printers, the strength of the part is limited by the Z-axis layers, which break easily.
The new system makes it possible to reorient the nozzle during printing, making the layers stronger and eliminating the need for support structures. This means that you can create complex shapes with smooth surfaces and better properties.
Everything is managed by the industrial software developed by Aibuild – it generates optimal trajectories of movement, automatically cuts the model and fully uses all 5 axes.
There is no word on the price yet, but the first limited batch will be shown on November 18 at the Formnext exhibition in Frankfurt am Main.
We previously reported that the first Starbucks of its kind, printed on a 3D printer, will be opened in Texas. The cafe will welcome its first customers already this month.
