Western donors will increase contributions to the training of qualified workers in Ukraine

The European Union, Poland and Estonia have joined the German government’s Skills4Recovery program to support the training and retraining of specialists for the recovery of Ukraine.

Extended assistance within the framework of the Skills4Recovery initiative includes, in particular:

  • more than doubling the total contributions of donors to Skills4Recovery – from EUR 10 million to EUR 25.5 million;
  • training of more than 4,700 qualified workers for the economy of Ukraine;
  • support of 50 providers of professional education services.

In addition, the geographical coverage of the initiative is expanding from six regions to the entire territory of Ukraine.

“The Skills4Recovery program is an important step on the way to the recovery of Ukraine, because qualified workers are the basis for a sustainable economy.

We strive not only to overcome imbalances in the labor market, but also to create opportunities for Ukrainians to adapt to new conditions, raising their professional level,” said Tetyana Berezhna, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

The Skills4Recovery joint initiative is funded by the European Union, Germany, Poland and Estonia. It is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Solidarity Fund PL (SFPL). The Skills4Recovery program was initiated by the German government in 2023.

180,000 Ukrainians will be able to learn a new profession or upgrade your skills within the next three years thanks to the Skills Alliance initiative.
