In Ukraine, starting from November 2024, it is possible to insure war risks in the amount of up to UAH 100 million (US$ 2.5 million).
This was reported in the insurance company ARX.
We are talking about damage caused by missile attacks, drone attacks of all types and their debris for a separate object of insurance.
“This coverage can be provided on the entire territory of Ukraine, with the exception of regions close to the front line and the border with the Russian Federation,” ARX reported.
As the company noted, coverage of military risks up to UAH 100 million became possible thanks to ARX’s agreement with the US International Development Finance Corporation (“DFC”). This is a reinsurance contract with ARX during the active phase of the war in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Economy said that under the agreement, DFC will act as a reinsurer for ARX, which will issue insurance policies in Ukraine and cover the risks of physical damage caused by the war. The implementation of this DFC mechanism should have a positive effect on the number of private companies involved in recovery projects. DFC is considering the possibility of providing additional volumes of reinsurance to other Ukrainian insurance companies.
The US Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is a US government agency. DFC partners with the private sector to finance solutions to the most critical challenges facing developing countries. The corporation invests in various sectors, including energy, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, small business and financial services.
We will remind:
The National Bank and the Ministry of Economy at the end of September presented draft law on the system of military risk insurance. It provides for the creation of the State Agency for Insurance of Military Risks.
