Rollins said that Turkey and South Korea “have both confirmed that they will increase exports of broken eggs” to the United States, WCSI reports.
She also said that her ministry had a conversation on Thursday “regarding another country that is ready to import a significant number of eggs in the short term” to the United States. Rollins did not specify the country.
“We continue to work on this issue very, very aggressively – again, only in the short term, to continue to lower egg prices,” she said.
“We are talking about hundreds of millions of eggs in the short term,” said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, quoted by the BBC.
This comes after the administration announced a $1 billion plan to combat the rampant bird flu epidemic that has forced US farmers to destroy tens of millions of chickens.
