US senators offer new sanctions against Russia for refusing to cease fire – Bloomberg

Sanctions provide for 500% of imports from countries buying Russian oil, petroleum products, natural gas or uranium”, – WRITE: www.radiosvoboda.org

A group of 50 US senators, both Republicans and Democrats, presented a project of a law that provides for a new package of sanctions against Russia and the countries that buy its oil in case of refusal of President Vladimir Putin to conduct fair negotiations on ceasefire in Ukraine or in case of violation of possible peaceful agreements. About it reports Bloomberg with reference to a document project.

Sanctions include 500% of imports from countries that buy Russian oil, petroleum products, natural gas or uranium. It also proposes a ban for US citizens to buy Russian government debt, the publication writes.

A number of additional restrictions are envisaged, including a ban on US financial institutions to invest in the company related to the Government of the Russian Federation.

“We look forward to peace, but it must be fair to Ukraine. The reason for the absence of ceasefire is that Putin pulls time and hopes that he can succeed in the battlefield, distracting President Trump and the American people, ”said one of the authors of the bill, Democrat Richard Blumental.

Republican Lindsey Graham and Democrat Blumental reported that the bill had already supported 50 senators, and the parallel initiative would be entered in the House of representatives of four congressmen from both parties, the article reads.

The bill also provides for the possibility of temporary exceptions from the sanctions by the Presidential decision, if it “meets the interests of US national security”.

US President Donald Trump previously statedthat was “angry” by Putin’s words about the illegitimacy of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and the need to introduce External management For Ukraine. Trump threatened Russia with a secondary duty on oil export if Moscow does not agree to the truce in the near future.
