Ukrainian Hryvnia Strengthens Against Dollar but Remains Above 44 Mark

The National Bank of Ukraine has strengthened the hryvnia against the dollar for the second consecutive day, yet the official exchange rate remains above 44 hryvnias per dollar.

As of March 17, the regulator set the exchange rate at 44 hryvnias and 8.03 kopecks for one dollar, which is 6 kopecks lower than the current official rate and 8 kopecks above the historical minimum for the hryvnia.

Trading on the Ukrainian interbank currency market on March 12 concluded with the dollar valued at 44 hryvnias and 5 kopecks. This marks a notable change since October 3, 2023, when the exchange rate shifted for the first time since July 21, 2022, after remaining fixed at 36 hryvnias and 57 kopecks for over 14 months.

The hryvnia has seen a slight strengthening against the dollar, yet it still trades above the 44 hryvnia mark. This follows a long period of stability in the exchange rate, indicating ongoing fluctuations in Ukraine's currency market.
