The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) imposed a fine of UAH 6.3 million on the companies “Universe Pharm” LLC and “Kvayser Pharma Ukraine” LLC for spreading false information on the packages of dietary supplements, which misleads consumers. This was reported by the press of AMCU. In particular, the AMCU found violations in the labeling of the following products: “Venovital” (ToV “Universe Pharm”) contained statements about “supporting blood vessels”, “strengthening the walls of blood vessels” and “improving microcirculation”, which corresponds to the properties of medicinal products, not supplements. Advertising : “Doppelhertz® active Omega-3 clean vessels” (“Kvayser Pharma Ukraine” LLP) claimed to “restore the elasticity of blood vessels vessels”, “lowering cholesterol” and “reducing the risk of blood clots”, without adequate evidence of these effects. The AMCU decided that the dissemination of such information could distort the competitive environment, giving unfair advantages to these companies. Consumers could perceive dietary supplements as medicines, which influenced their choice. It is reported that both companies are obliged to stop using false information in the labeling of their products.
