Shipments of liquefied natural gas (LPG) from Russia to Poland have been decreasing for the fourth month in a row. Polish traders do not rule out that Russian shipments may stop altogether in October.

About this writes industry publication enkorr.

According to the publication, the volume of shipments decreased from 100,000 tons in May to 50,000 tons in August.

The reduction in shipments also occurs in September. During 16 days, 18,900 tons of liquefied gas were sent from Russia to Poland. Thus, if the pace of shipments is maintained, the final volume in September will be approximately 35,000 tons.

The decrease in the volume of shipments was due to several reasons.

In particular, in June, a large Russian producer of LPG, “Sibur”, began to experience difficulties in receiving payments from Polish importers. As a result, the petrochemical holding was forced to stop supplying gas to Poland. Planned repairs at Lukoil and Gazprom gas processing plants also contributed to the reduction of supplies in the summer months. In addition, the export activity of suppliers was affected by the seasonal increase in autogas consumption on the Russian market.

According to traders, the Polish market is actively preparing for the implementation of the December embargo on the supply of Russian propane and PBT. Importers conclude agreements with Western partners and gradually replace the volumes of Russian products that are being phased out.

According to market participants, it is possible that in October Russian shipments may fall further or stop altogether. There are fears among Russian exporters that they will not be able to return the tanks to Russian territory in time. “We see where everything is going. Therefore, it is quite possible that in October Russian shipments may drop to zero,” said the Polish trader.
