The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the draft state budget for 2025 for the second reading in the Verkhovna Rada.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, it is planned to allocate UAH 2.2 trillion for defense needs. These funds of Ukrainian taxpayers will be directed to the purchase of new weapons, drones and military equipment.
Before the second reading, government officials increased expenditures in the draft budget by UAH 50 billion:
- Education: it is proposed to additionally allocate 24 billion UAH, of which 12 billion is intended for additional payments to teachers, another 12 billion – for investment projects in the field of education.
- Medicine: they offer additional financing of UAH 6.3 billion.
- Support for veterans: an additional UAH 5 billion is proposed to be used to support veterans.
Also, in 2025, the Road Fund will not be financed, but UAH 12.6 billion will be allocated for the repair of roads, which are important for defense and the economy.
In addition, the government has provided for full funding of the “eRecovery” program.
