The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 2.56 billion hryvnias from the budget reserve fund for the purchase of mobile distributed generation equipment – the government announced this on January 21.

Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko clarified that the funds will be used for equipment for the production of “heat and electricity where it is most needed.”

“These funds will be used to purchase high-power generators for the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. This equipment can be redirected to other regions where there is an acute need,” she said.

According to Svyridenko, purchases will be made according to simplified procedures without delay. Separately, the government identified the responsible customer and established the procedure for the use of generation – for heating, water supply and drainage facilities.

“In the conditions of constant Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, we need not only large energy facilities, but also smaller installations of distributed generation – independent of the operation of centralized networks,” the premier added.

Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Development of Communities and Territories, commented on the decision, pointing out the need to strengthen communities with alternative and decentralized solutions.

“A separate decision was made to create a working group for the verification of cogeneration plants, generators and other equipment – to see the real picture in each district of Kyiv and use the available resources as efficiently as possible,” he added.
