The European Commission will sign an agreement with an EIB for 1.95 billion euros for Ukraine’s rebuilding

The European Commissioner for the Extension of Marta Kos plans to sign an agreement of the European Commission with the European Investment Bank to provide EUR 1.95 billion under the Ukraine Facility – the European Commission reported on March 5.

It is reported that Kos plans to visit Luxembourg, where the ceremony of signing the relevant warranty agreement with the EIB will be held.

“This additional guarantee is aimed at maintaining loans and disclosing the potential of private investment, focusing on urgent efforts to restore and reconstruct in Ukraine,” the statement reads.

According to Kos, the guarantee agreement with the bank emphasizes the role of the European Union in support of Ukraine:

“We will support Ukraine as much as it will be needed and with the required intensity. This new guarantee will help Ukrainians rebuild their country. This will help restore water and heating systems, schools and hospitals. ”

According to the European Commission, these funds will go to support the public sector activities, including investments in Ukrainian energy, modernization of public transport and improvement of municipal infrastructure. It is, in particular, the restoration of water supply and heating systems, public lighting, schools, hospitals and higher education institutions.

“These goals are consistent with the priorities and needs of the Ukrainian government, stated in the Ukrainian Plan. This financing is part of the European Union program for Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros for the period 2024-2027, ”the agency adds.
