Salaries of IT specialists in Ukraine are decreasing – DOU survey

In Ukraine, the median salary of IT developers decreased by 6%, the average salary is about 3,300 dollars. DOU writes about it. The decrease in salaries affected all specializations, but developers with more than 10 years of experience maintained their level of income. Tech Lead median salaries decreased to $5,600 (-$100), Architect to $6,500 (-$325), and Senior to $4,500 (-$200 per half year). Team Lead salaries remained at the level of $5,000.Advertisement: The median salary of Middle professionals decreased by $50 to $2,450 after a year of stability. Junior salaries also fell by $35 per half year and $50 per year, to $900. The biggest reduction is observed among Architect (-5%) and Senior and Junior developers (-4%). The spread of salaries for the most experienced professionals (Team Lead, Tech Lead, Architect) increased due to the drop in the lower quartiles. In Senior and Junior, the decrease affected all quartiles, while in Middle – only the third. 10% of developers earn from $6,250, and 1% earn more than $10,000. A decrease in salaries was recorded for specialists with 4–5 years of experience, in particular by 200–300 dollars. At the same time, the median salary of specialists with more than 10 years of experience remained at the level of 5,000 dollars. Advertisement: In Kyiv and Lviv, a drop in salaries was observed: in Kyiv, due to a reduction in juniors (-50 dollars to 950 dollars) and seniors (-200 dollars to 4,800 dollars), in Lviv – for middle-class people (-200 dollars to 2,500 dollars), seniors (-$100 to $4,600) and leads (-$100 to $5,700). In Kharkiv, Dnipro and Odesa, the situation is stable, while in Vinnytsia, an upward trend has been recorded. Product companies remain wage leaders, but growth has stalled. Outstaffing companies continue to reduce payouts, while outsourcing companies and start-ups have halted the decline. Among the specializations, the biggest decrease is observed in Back-end, Mobile and Full Stack, especially among middle and seniors. In the Front-end, the decline has stopped, except for specialists at the Lead/Staff/Principal level. Salaries in Desktop and Embedded development remain below average. Median salaries for programming languages ​​have also fallen, though Scala holds the lead at $6,000. Kotlin, Java, Swift, and Go professionals, despite the downward trend, earn more than the average.
