According to the text of the future draft law, the confiscated assets of foreigners may be transferred to the state property of Russia. The list of assets subject to confiscation will have to be drawn up by the government commission on foreign investments. It is noted that the decision on confiscation must be made in a manner similar to the usual confiscation procedures, through an arbitration court, the newspaper writes. According to the source of the newspaper, the government commission will consider the bill next week. The authors of the draft law refer to the decree of Vladimir Putin dated May 23, 2024 on “compensation for damage caused to the country due to unfriendly actions of the United States”. According to the text of the future law, it will be possible to apply the practice of “compensating damages” to any “unfriendly states and countries” persons connected with them” if they “unreasonably deprived the Russian Federation or Russians of property rights”.
