“NBU: The audit of Poroshenko’s bank is planned and has no political undertonesThe National Bank denied accusations of politically persecuting the opposition through the audit of the International Investment
Bank, emphasizing the planned nature of the event and the absence of political undertones.”, — write: unn.ua

The NBU rejected any unfounded accusations of alleged political persecution of the opposition.
The on-site inspection of JSC “MIB” on financial monitoring, compliance with the requirements of currency and sanctions legislation was scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. According to the results of inspections, in case of detection of violations, the NBU applies measures of influence adequate to the committed violations.
At the same time, the subject of the audit is the activities of the bank itself, not its clients. In particular, regarding compliance by Poroshenko’s bank with the requirements of the Law “On Prevention and Counteraction to Legalization (Laundering) of Proceeds from Crime, Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction” and other regulatory legal acts.
The NBU does not require banks to request additional documents and information from clients during the inspection. The NBU does not conduct inspections or evaluations of the activities of public organizations, charitable foundations, economic associations and any other entities, except for those clearly defined by law and belonging to the circle of supervised entities of the regulator. In this case, we are talking exclusively about the bank and its activities as a subject of primary financial monitoring
The National Bank emphasizes that during inspections of financial institutions, it acts exclusively within its powers.
As of today, the inspection of JSC “MIB” is ongoing in a planned mode. In the public outcry surrounding this process, provoked by the bank’s owners and clients, we see pressure on the regulator and, in particular, obstruction of the work of the inspection team
We remind you that earlier the NBU fined Petro Poroshenko’s bank UAH 20.5 million for violating the law.
Earlier, experts called the Bank’s operations with funds from the Poroshenko Foundation to purchase Ukrainian government bonds fraudulent.
As you know, in February, sanctions were imposed against a number of oligarchs and politicians who posed a threat to national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and contributed to terrorist activities. In particular, the list included Petro Poroshenko, Viktor Medvedchuk and others.
In particular, Petro Poroshenko was accused of lobbying the Kharkiv agreements (Black Sea Fleet in Crimea); financing terrorists (purchase of coal from ORDLO); trading in the war with Russia (Lipetsk factory, “Bogdan” plant in Russia, etc.); illegal alienation of the oil pipeline from the state together with Medvedchuk and the Russians, etc.
