In Ukraine, bringing tariffs to a market justified level could potentially lead to an additional increase in inflation by 4.7%. This is stated in the NBU inflationary report for January 2025. Given that during the IV quarter, consumer inflation increased rapidly and in December accelerated to 12.0%, with a potential additional increase in inflation due to bringing tariffs to market could be 16.7%. However, according to the NBU, the implementation of such influence was prevented by the moratorium on increasing tariffs on utility services (natural gas, heating and hot water). The NBU reminded that world gas prices remained much higher than those used to calculate tariffs for utilities for Ukrainians. Advertising: Recall: According to the NBU’s calculations, inflation in Ukraine will reach its peak in the second quarter up to 15% in the annual dimension and From the middle of the year it will start to decline. At the end of 2025, inflation will slow down to 8.4%. This will be facilitated by the NBU interest policy, the stability of the foreign exchange market, the higher yields, the improvement of the situation in energy, the reduction of fiscal deficiency, as well as moderate external price pressure. In addition, the effect of transferring increased energy costs will gradually decrease, which has happened to a large extent.
