Unfortunately, now due to the attack on the confinement and partial loss of functionality, we have to, now it is difficult to say how much, but to postpone the schedules. Because now it is impossible to perform a number of works that should have been going on
DetailsShe also stressed that the radiation background after the enemy attack remained stable.
“That is, we all remember why the arch was built, why the new safe confinement was built, that inside there is indeed a fourth destroyed reactor covered with a sarcophagus. Inside there are unstable structures that will also need to be dismantled and disposed of. And this is also a huge process,” Hrynchuk added.
According to her, together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, scientific institutions and engineering companies that designed the arch, an analysis of the damage is currently underway. The first results are expected in May, and in June Ukraine will present a plan of action to restore it to its partners in London.
“But we can already see now that these will be more short-term measures to fully restore the functionality of the arch and we are actively working on this,” the minister said.
Let us remind you Earlier, The New York Times reported that the dismantling of the sarcophagus installed under the USSR, which was damaged by a recent Russian attack, may have to be postponed at the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
