Macron called a “brittle” pause in the introduction of duties by the United States

Delaying the United States tariffs for 90 days is a “signal” and opens the door for negotiations, stated French President Emmanuel Macron on April 11.

At the same time, “this pause remains brittle,” he added:

“British, because 25% of steel, aluminum and cars and 10 percent tariffs for all other products are still valid. This is 52 billion euros for the European Union! (Pause – Ed.) fragile, because this 90-day pause means 90 days of uncertainty for all our enterprises, on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond, ”he added.

According to the President of France, the purpose of the European Commission and the countries of Europe remains negotiations to abolish customs tariffs and a symmetric agreement with the United States.

US President Donald Trump Earlier declared a 90-day pause and a “significant reduction” of mutual tariffs with 75 countries.

After that the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Liaien reported that The EU will suspend its counter -commission for 90 days in response to US duties.

At the same time, he announced an immediate increase in tariffs for Chinese goods to 125%, accusing Beijing of “lack of respect” for the world markets.

US President Donald Trump on April 2 announced the introduction of duties on goods from all over the world that will be imported to the United States. Stock markets worldwide have fallen against these steps.
