The American company Intel is delaying the construction of factories for the production of microcircuits in Poland and Germany for at least two years.

About this informs Intel press office.

“We must continue to act with urgency to create a more competitive cost structure and achieve the $10 billion savings goal we announced last month,” said Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger.

Intel also said it would adjust the launch of its projects in Malaysia to market conditions and increased utilization of existing capacity, but assured that plans in the US would remain unchanged.

In particular, Intel will receive up to $3 billion in direct funding from the US government to increase semiconductor production for the US military. According to the company’s statement, this is part of an effort to “protect the internal chip supply chain.”

In addition, Intel reportedly announced plans to cut 15% of its workforce as part of a cost-saving initiative.

At the same time, the company announced a partnership with Amazon Web Services, which includes a joint investment in the development of custom chips.
