According to the authorities, out of the 40 detected violations, 29 are serious and became the basis for the detention of the vessel. Most of them (23 violations) concerned documentation, the rest – the safety of navigation system, crew training for emergency situations, as well as technical malfunctions.
One of the serious problems is also the suspicion that the vessel does not have the flag of the state, which means that it is not subject to the jurisdiction of any country. The vessel is currently in Muuga under the protection of the Naval Forces.
“After the elimination of both documentary and technical violations and re-inspection, the Transport Department will issue a permit to the tanker to continue its journey,” the article says.
